Parts and Features of our legüero drums.
Aros de Quebracho

1)- Rings - Rings are made of iron wood, its the medium that unites the hull and the patches. Its function is crucial because it brings the sound you need.

   
Parche de Cabra

2) - Patches - made out of skins of goat,sheep or cow. Are placed at the hull ends, they are what they emit the sound of this instrument. Joining through hoops

3)- Leather soles - Their function its to apply tensioning over the rings wich stretch the patches obtaining a more desire sound.
They surround the drum and are made of leather cow.

   
Casco de Ceibo

4)- wooden hull - its the main part of a drum, it is the center structure made out of ceibo's wood. With the wooden hull, we start the building of the drum.

   
Tensores

5)- tensioners - made out of leather , their graduation of the tension applyed to the atches, will show remarkably on the sonority of the drum

   
Palillos

6) - percussion sticks - are two units that emit the sound when it impacts on the leather patches

Made out of Ceibo's wood,the patches are made out of leather from sheep and goats
and a couple of percussion sticks made of white iron wood one with a ball at one extreme and the other one without

Menbranophone: hitting the tense leather patches that are attached to the wooden hull with the percussion sticks, its how the sound is produced due to the vibration of the patches

It is typical of the entire northwestern Argentina, is vital and on any of the orchestras who play folk can not do without at the many organized festivals in the areas between the provinces of San Juan, Jujuy and Santiago del Estero

Couplet Box:
